RAID UK Gains Two New Instructor Trainers

In February Gen MacCallum and Kenny McGuire became recreational open circuit RAID Instructor Trainers. RAID UK & Malta would like to congratulate and welcome Gen and Kenny to the Instructor Trainer team. They both bring a vast wealth of diving experience to the team and we are looking forward to training more Instructors with them soon!

Here is a little background information on both Gen and Kenny:

Kenny started diving in 1990 and now runs C&C Marine in Largs, Scotland. He continued RAID as an instructor in 2014.

“2018 is already awesome!! I’m an Open Circuit Instructor Trainer, First Aid & Oxygen Instructor Trainer with an Agency that treats you as family and not a number. I am looking forward to seeing what future brings!”

Gen started diving in 2001 and now operates in connection with Skegness Aquarium. Gen is also a member of the RAID team delivering accredited first aid training.

“To say the ITP course in Tenerife with Paul Vincent Toomer was a blast would be an understatement, and for me to say that I am now at the top of the ladder – well it still hasn’t sunk in fully and I really can’t wait to teach my first Instructor Development Program knowing that I have such an amazing dive family behind me.”

How To Order From RAID

The year has started with another flourish of RAID activity, and our members will need service support from their RAID Regional Office (RRO) from time to time.

Here’s a guide on how to order from RAID UK & Malta in 2018.

Buying Credits

Dive Centres should always buy their credit directly from their RRO. The trade level pricing we offer makes RAID a leader in materials use and supply.  Minimum stock levels can be maintained using the “credit bank” on your dive centre profile. The 2018 Pricelist is available (get in touch if you’ve not yet received it) and the good news is that RAID pricing has remained unchanged this year!

The Dive Centre can buy goods and services for their “instructional team”. For example, if you have four instructors affiliated to your centre, all wanting to renewal their Membership at the same time, the centre can do this through the RRO, potentially saving money too. The requirement is that all goods and services bought through the RRO are paid for for by the Dive Centre and not the individual RAID Members.

Merchandise

RAID UK has a selection of physical merchandise available (see Pricelist). As these will need to be shipped, we reserve the right to charge shipping fees to cover our costs here, and we don’t profit on our shipping costs to you!

c-Cards

Plastic c-Cards have a set fee to Dive Centres (only £7.50) allowing for a £15/£20 retail point to our divers. This includes all shipping (standard post or international post) with a 3-7 working day delivery pledge. Large Dive Centres may want to consider a c-Card printer for their facility, allowing them to instantly print cards for their students.

Payment

We accept all credit and debit cards, with no additional fees. We don’t offer any payment terms, so all invoices must be paid in full up front. Please check if additional charges from your bank are added on international orders – these are at your own cost.

Instructors not affiliated to a RAID dive centre are unable to deliver RAID courses. However, they can still purchase courses and services for their own personal development through the RAID website shopping cart.

We hope this helps – let’s get busy.

Barry McGill joins RAID

Barry McGill is an Irish based deep wreck photographer and technical diving instructor trainer with Indepth Technical, he specialises in teaching CCR and Mixed Gas CCR on both APD and JJ units. Barry started diving in 2000 aged 16 and became heavily involved in technical diving in 2003 and has been diving CCR since 2004. Barry became an advanced nitrox instructor in 2008 and has progressed to the level of CCR Trimix (100m).

Barry runs fully supported technical diving trips to the iconic wrecks of North Donegal (Malin Head), off the North coast of Ireland each summer. These trips allow technical divers to fully explore the breath-taking shipwrecks with the help and guidance of Barry’s experience diving in this area since 2003.

In his free time, Barry loves to focus on this passion for exploration of deep water shipwrecks around the Irish coastline and he has been fortunate enough to discover and explore many significant virgin shipwrecks. Exploring iconic shipwrecks such as the R.M.S. Justicia, H.M.S. Audacious and R.M.S. Lusitania left a significant impression on Barry, helping to develop his desire to discover and explore shipwrecks. Barry has organised and led many deep wreck expeditions exploring the deep wrecks off the North coast of Ireland, which included the S.S. Empress of Britain in 162m and S.S. Transylvania in 130m. Barry has also been part the teams that first discovered and explored the wrecks of HMS Curacoa in 125m (410ft), White Star Liner Carinthia in 116m (380ft), HMS Hurst Castle in 85m (279ft) and World War 1 German U-boats UB 124 and U45 in 65 m (213ft).

Barry will be helping RAID UK & Malta by supporting our dive centres in Ireland. He is also at the Dive Ireland International Expo, Limerick on 3rd & 4th March.

RAID are pleased to announce another centre chooses the new RAID way; Bay Divers, led by Karl Kruger an experienced former military diver. Karl has dived extensively throughout the world and has developed a passion for wreck diving and exploration.
