RAID Instructor Exam July 2018

On July 7 & 8 RAID UK descended on Manchester and Eccleston Delph for a RAID Instructor Exam. 5 candidates were put through their paces as the future of RAID. The candidates had completed their Instructor Development programmes with 3 different RAID Dive Centres, involving 4 RAID Instructor Trainers based in the UK.

The two day RAID Instructor Exam adheres to the Recreational Scuba Training Council (RSTC) guidelines and involves several elements of examination. After completing the 7 day Instructor Development Programme, the instructor candidates are assessed on academic presentations, confined water skills, open water skills and rescue demonstrations. These elements are believed to be the essence of being a dive instructor.

Although a stressful two days of examination, the Instructor Exam is still one of the most rewarding experiences. Here is what the candidates had to say about it:

“Fantastic to be surrounded by such a wealth of knowledge and diving skill, picking up hints and tips along the way.”

Lewis Brown, RAID Instructor

“It was the most stressful, fun and rewarding experience I have had!”

Andrea McGeagh, RAID Instructor

“RAID are a very professional and forward thinking agency and I’m proud to be part of the positive team of people.”

Paul Luke, RAID Instructor

Our Instructor Trainers also had something to say about the whole process:

“Unlike other agencies, where successful candidates have to wait up to two weeks for their qualifications to arrive and start teaching. With RAID the certification is immediate and they can get teaching straight away! The whole process from IDP to IE is thorough and strives to get the best out of the candidates.”

Pete Black, Instructor Trainer
